Writing Is Powerful, But Nothing Beats Live Interaction

𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗲: 2 minutes

The great thing about reading is you get to compress time.

A book might be a year of the author’s life, and we read it in a matter of hours.

An article might be days or weeks, and we read it in 15 minutes.

Over the years, I’ve spent between 30 minutes and several hours on each one of these newsletters.  And for the most part they take 1-5 minutes to read, tops.

While significantly more time goes into writing something than to reading it, the reader and writer are equally transformed (as long as the writing is done well and the reader is interested).

For the reader, time is compressed.

For the writer, fragmented aspects of the psyche are crystallized.

But there’s something different about live interaction.

If the goal is to learn and implement new skills in your day to day life, then face-to-face interaction has some significant advantages.

Even if that interaction is viewed remotely through this screen.

Here are some key benefits to live interaction:

  • Immediate feedback & clarification
  • More personalized instruction
  • & Engagement in active learning

But most of all…

It builds relationships.

To the student, mentor relationships can be invaluable.

And the power of networking through colleagues…

As they say, it’s not what you know but who you know.

And to anyone who’s in the business of doing anything, building relationships with the public is becoming the only way to do business as we move further into the world of trust based marketing.

Now more than ever people only want to do business with people they like and trust.

And in my humble opinion, that trust is best established through live interaction.  Because as much as 93% of communication is non-verbal.

No one wants to buy from faceless companies anymore.

And no one wants to buy from brands that aren’t in love with their communities and aren’t giving back in the form of live, interactive, educational and entertaining content.

That’s how a small outdoor adventure company like Mammut positioned themselves as an industry leader alongside companies like The North Face, Patagonia, and Arc’teryx which are 5 to 10 times their size.

And it’s also why they’re growing 4x faster than any of these companies at double the profit margins.

Because they’re giving back to their community through their commitments to sustainability and live interaction.

And I show you exactly how to do this for your business in a free monthly workshop I call “The Workshop Workshop”.

The Workshop Workshop is a Free, Live Online Workshop that I host about once a month.

And it’s designed to help you build, launch and fill simple online workshops that inspire change and grow your business.
