Why I stopped slopping things together in Canva
The whole premise of Minimum Viable Email List is pretty simple.
You build something simple, and you get started.
Then you build multiple simple things and you test them. You make each one as small and as valuable as possible, so you cram as much value into a single page as you can.
That's my philosophy on this.
You can basically put an entire course on a single page if it's just links to short videos and that’s a one page lead magnet. Which is essentially what Minimum Viable Email List is. When I first built, it was just a simple Notion document with videos. Basically a mini-course.
But it’s only 10-15 minutes long.
Which is important for a lead magnet. You can breeze right through, beginning to end, and the gears in your mind will start to turn. By the end, you’ll think, “Okay, I know exactly what I need to do, I just need to spend one hour creating a lead magnet and getting it live. Then do it again. And then do it again.”
Then you will have 3 remarkable, but simple ideas that you can test.
Rather than tweaking one idea for hours, or centuries, or trying to figure out complicated tech stacks… the best thing to do is just get them up and running. Create a simple opt-in page, and start growing.
But you know what?
Some of the tools I now recommend using to create lead magnets are different than when I first created it. So it’s due for an update. And now that I’m all in on Email Sanctuary in Skool, I thought I’d make it even easier if I just deliver it fully inside the classroom.
Previously, I just linked out the Notion doc inside a single lesson.
Now each lesson has it’s own page on the course inside the classroom. And I think for anyone else who’s sold on building inside Skool right now, delivering certain types of lead magnets right in side the classroom, but publicly available so that people do not have to become members first to access them, will be a powerful way to bring new people into your world who might otherwise be hesitant to sign up for yet another platform.
Because once inside, without logging in, they can see all the locked content and conversations, and get an idea what they might be missing out on.
Anyway, this is the new way I'm going to be delivering Minimum Viable Email List.
No more access via Notion.
And everyone will at least get a chance to peak inside the classroom before they decide to join, or not. Right now, it’s all the same content uploaded inside the classroom (with a few powerful updates), but over the next two weeks, I’ll be updating the content inside it too.
Because I’ve been mapping out new lead magnets with folks 1:1 on the Lead Magnet Map calls, and the results are insanely good.
And I think I can get you closer to that kind of result with just a few minor updates.
Point is, you won’t have to slop things together inside Canva anymore to pull it off, now you’ll just be able to use a little bit of imagination, and something surprising will appear.
