Become a trusted advisor in your field by writing online
That's the promise I made to myself when I finally walked away from my construction business.
I was $80,000 in debt, had a ruptured bicep tendon, and was trying to finish a failing home remodel with subs not showing up to do the work I paid them for, and no employees left to do the work (because I couldn’t pay them anymore).
And since I dumped all the money I had into the project at the time, the homeowner and the bank both made out like bandits on that one.
But I got something more valuable...
I realized that if you don't love what you do, you're in the wrong industry.
For years I'd been studying internet marketing on the side and learning how people actually built businesses online. Not the funnel hacker stuff, but people like Daniel Vitalis, Mark Sisson, Gabor Maté... folks who built things that actually mattered.
But I struggled to start my own thing for a long time because I felt creatively blocked.
I didn’t know what my true interests were because I never had a chance to explore that growing up.
But eventually I figured out what works, even if you don’t know where to start.
And it’s frighteningly simple:
- Post content.
- Find fans.
- Build fan-based offers.
When I finally started doing that, I was on Instagram at the time, and people started following me left and right, reaching out and asking questions, joining my email list, attending workshops, I even have friends calling me on the phone to talk about the things I was writing about online.
So that’s when I realized…
If you don’t know what to do, you can just write and the path will find you.
About that time I realized multi-media editing made my brain hurt, so I focused all my effort and attention towards writing on Threads, daily emails, and leaving the video content to long-form, unedited, educational stuff (like what you’ll find inside my community) and perhaps eventually on YouTube some day.
Because I love being on camera and speaking publicly.
It gives me energy and I’m fairly decent at it.
But when Threads launched I was like hell yeah because I just get to write, share my ideas, refine my thoughts, attract fans and clients all without having to dance around on TikTok or Instagram.
And whether you’re an expert or beginner…
If you want to become a trusted advisor in your field through writing online, I want you inside The Nature of Marketing Community.
It’s not polished or perfect.
And it’s intentionally small right now, but here’s what you’ll get inside:
My full Threads Organic Traffic writing course (the one that helped me go from zero to building an email list and selling everything from $7 e-books for $6,500 coaching packages by simply writing about my ideas online). You’ll get the Minimum Viable Email List training I’ve just created to help you build strategic freebies that grow your list and bring in highly qualified clients in under an hour.
And coming soon, you’ll also get access to my Threads Writing Dashboard built in Notion, which, when you connect it to Notion AI, is likely to become the most powerful content creation assistant the internet has ever seen.
Then after that, we’ll start focusing more on email.
Hope to see you on the inside:
Talk soon,
