Here's exactly what I'm testing this week
Monday I asked my list if they wanted a lead magnet wizard and a number of people said yes.
I launched it yesterday from an ugly black and white page.
Now today, it’s styled.
I’m taking one little step at a time to avoid the perfectionism that normally keeps me from publishing.
That said, here’s the whole $7 experiment, out in the open, including what I plan on testing.
I’ve been offering 1-on-1 lead magnet mapping sessions for folks on the list and inside the community every so often. And every time I do it, the thing we create usually amazes us both. So I wanted to turn what we’re doing into something that could help more people.
I’ve priced it low, much lower than what I think it’s actually worth, because I’d like to be able to test it as an upsell offer on the paid ads I’m running.
There are two reasons:
One, you can give free stuff away all day long, but until you’ve proven that people will pay real money for it, your offer isn’t validated yet.
If people will pay for it, even if it’s just a few dollars, then maybe you’ve got something there.
So I plan on placing this little $7 offer on the thank you page right after people fill the opt-in form for Minimum Viable Email List, and running some tests to see if it works.
So that’s the first reason.
The second reason is…
If a percentage of the people who opt-in to Minimum Viable Email List also opt-in to purchasing the lead magnet generator, then that will subsidize things like paying for more ads. And ultimately, if you can run paid ads and make back everything you spent within 24 hours, then you can basically grow your list, and your business, for free.
The problem is, with paid ads, people are often skeptical.
So you’ve got to give them a really good experience, or else it will come back and bite you later in the form of people hating you and never wanting to buy anything from you again because the first thing they bought was crap.
