Rule out everything but aliens!
Extraterrestrial scientists are hunting through the universe to track down molecules on their “most wanted” list.
Molecules that might indicate the presence of life outside our galaxy.
And recently, using advanced telescopes and well timed lighting, they got a read on a potentially habitable planet found 124 light years fromhome.
Here on Earth, dimethyl sulfide only exists because of life.
But in space?
Who knows.
And some scientists think this planet might have tons of it. That and a few other features that make a prime suspect for hosting life on another planet. Now, their next task is to do something very interesting…
Rule Out Everything But Aliens!
Personally, that all sounds really exciting to me.
Asking questions. Solving puzzles. Trying to uncover the mysteries of the universe. Honestly, it’s a lot like marketing if you ask me. Everything is an experiment. But if you’re not careful about how you perform those experiments, you’ll just be staring at a bunch of useless data, and feeling more frustrated than ever before.
For example…
Two years ago, a team at Cambridge made a big stink about finding this very same compound (DMS) along with a few others that might indicate life — on the very same planet. But when third parties analyzed the data they found nothing of the sort.
Turns out…
Decoding the atmosphere of a faraway planet is complicated.
Kind of like trying to decode human behavior so you can put your best foot forward in your marketing efforts.
Maybe you find yourself rummaging through your recent emails, trying to decode your open and click through rates to find the message that resonates most with your ideal clients. You know… the ones who value and can actually afford to pay for your services?
Not to say that there’s anything wrong with you if you’re broke and can’t afford the extra expense.
That’s just a part of life sometimes.
But as a business owner, it’s your responsibility to focus all your time, effort, and energy into THRUSTING your rocket ship away from the heavy gravitational force of the Earth (that’s desperately trying drag you back down) until you can ESCAPE the atmosphere and float safely (hopefully) towards your final destination.
Assuming all your calculations were right.
But that’s the thing about marketing. It’s all about momentum.
So you have to make sure you’re tracking all your data properly. More extensively than most platforms allow you to do intuitively and “out-of-the-box” — as it were. And honestly, even once you get something working, you need to always be testing (ABT) to figure out what works better so you know the natural next steps for you as a business owner, and for your clients, so you can help them get the best return on their investment.
So that’s my advice for you today.
Ruthlessly track down every glimmer of hope in your marketing and then diligently do your best to….
RULE OUT EVERYTHING BUT ALIENS!
