Samurai Secrets of Success
Here’s a principle I write about often.
One that I suggest you consider as you develop your plans for the coming year.
And it’s something that’s responsible for the noteworthy achievements of the Samurai, not only in times of conflict, but also in times of peace. Because most people don’t realize that the samurai were not just a group of men and women devoted to becoming fearsome warriors, they were also highly regarded scholars, poets, and cultural icons that shaped the course of Japanese history.
And the reason they were so feared in battle is the same reason they were so successful in all the peace-time achievements as well.
It all comes down to one fundamental principle.
As I mentioned earlier, this is a principle that I talk about often. And even though I repeat it over and over again, a lot of people really don’t seem to take it seriously. Or they get confused when I talk about it because it runs counter to all the modern advice about goal setting and personal development.
And you might say, well…
The Samurai have largely been phased out, and don’t really exist anymore, so why would I want to learn from them?
And while it’s true, the Samurai class is no longer really thing. But their philosophy was preserved and became a part of Japan’s national identity and it remains so to this day. Not only that, it embraced and helped spread Zen philosophy throughout much of the world today. Now I’m not recommending you go all Zen Buddhist monk on me, but you can if want.
Point is, their ideas are very much alive, and celebrated by successful groups and individuals all throughout the world. So maybe that’s a good reason to pay attention.
So here’s the deal…
The reason the Samurai were so fearsome in battle is because the eliminated all thoughts from their mind related to the outcome.
They were not concerned with winning. They were not concerned with living or dying. They were not concerned with any of that.
The full entirety of their focus was completely dedicated to one thing and one thing only, their next movement. And they were so good with their swords, that even after firearms were invented, modern armies had difficulty taking them down.
And it’s all because they focused on output, not outcomes.
So there you have it.
I say it a lot but it bears repeating.
Good goals are habits, not outcomes.
If you want to see results in your life, decide what habits you need to build in order to make those outcomes possible, and diligently focus your time and your efforts on that.
That said…
My Magnetic Business Plan is ALL ABOUT focusing on output.
Focusing on who you can serve, what you can do for them, and how you’re going to do it, so that you can build a successful, freedom focused business that allows you to make the best use of your natural interests and curiosities, to shape the world into the kind of place you’d most like to live.
