The brain is weak but the mind is willing
Right now I’m in my office and I’m feeling a bit brain dead.
At the time of writing, it’s nearing the end of the work day (even though you might be reading this in the morning, afternoon, or whenever it is where ever you are in the world).
Where I am in the world, I am in the past.
And so in a way, I’m time traveling to meet you now in the future because by the time you read this, I’ll have already scheduled this email to go out the day after writing it the night before.
Normally, I’d put more time and effort into giving you some juicy tidbit of psychology, or copywriting wisdom I’ve collected over the years that you could swipe and deploy in your own content, in your own emails, in your own sales pages, and more…
But today’s lesson is perhaps a bit more useful than your typical persuasion tactic or rule of influence.
You see, today I am writing later into the evening than I normally would because I have some very important business to attend to. As you know, I’ve made the commitment to write to you each and every day with something I find valuable that will help you achieve your goals.
Goals such as — more clients, better clients, course sales, product sales, writing clarity, etc…
But I also have my own goals to attend to…
One such goal is to have these emails written and scheduled on at least the day before they’re shipped out so that I can tease the content inside each email on social media the day before which will hopefully encourage new people to sign up and give them a whirl. And then maybe they too can improve their marketing, copy, and persuasion skills and put them to good use in making the world a better place.
A place that’s a bit more like the kind of world that they’d like to live in.
Because there’s far too many good ideas out there that struggle to get off the ground due to a lack of business acumen. And I think a little bit of marketing know how can go a long way in terms of getting some of those ideas up into the air where they can generate some lift.
All to say that sometimes it can feel like you need to put a whole lot of time and effort into something before you put it out into the world before it can be judged for it’s merit and it’s worth.
But in reality, even a little message like this can contain some use and some value to your readers.
Sometimes I would argue, little messages like this can even be some of the most impactful messages you can send.
So anyway, here I am, fulfilling on this commitment to you and to myself, to give you something useful every day, and to make sure I get it done the day before so that I give a handful of new people each day the opportunity to be a little bit adventurous and to try something new.
While at the same time, offering you the opportunity to try something new.
I don’t do this too often anymore, but if you’re here reading this email then I’d like to get to know a bit more about you and offer you the chance to learn something from (completely free of charge).
Here’s how it works:
If you reply to this email with the words “Marketing Interview”, then I will invite you to participate in a marketing interview where I ask you questions about how you got here, what you’re learning while you’re here, and what you’d like to see more of next. And in return, you can ask me anything.
And if you haven’t done a lot of these yourself for your own business, I think you’ll find that they’re surprisingly helpful to you as a business owner and the best way to learn to handle them is to participate in one yourself.
So if you’re feeling a little adventurous, just reply with the words “Marketing Interview”.
Talk soon,
Kevin Hood
