Want to see my first successful sales letter?
Back in 2020 I launched my first successful group coaching program.
At the time I had no audience, no credentials, no experience, and no real clue what I was doing.
But it worked.
And it wasn’t about business, or marketing, or making money online…
This was strictly a personal development offer. Easily one the hardest things in the world to sell if you ask me.
At the time I had maybe 120 people on my email list (but mostly from unrelated past promotions or content). And I only had about 300-400 followers on Instagram (which were mostly old friends from the Detroit music scene).
But I was creating something that I believed in.
And I took everything I’d learned watching other people build online, mixed in my early obsession with copywriting, wrote the page myself, hooked up some simple tech, and pressed publish.
The result?
$2,000 in sales.
From strangers on the internet no less. Using nothing but words on a page. Not life-changing money. But it changed me because it proved something. You don’t need fame, credentials, or perfect positioning to start making sales online.
You just need something worth saying, a clear way to say it, and a way to get it in front of the right people.
That launch even led to a few wild stories.
Like the woman who ditched her cleaning business to move to the desert and become a park ranger. Or the guy who finally graduated college after nearly giving up and became massage therapist. Or the guy who finally made peace with some old addictions.
Different people, similar patterns.
No matter your credentials or experience, your words can move people when they’re written with truth.
So that’s the first part of the puzzle. Pulling the message out of you that moves people to act. And the second part is getting that message in front of the right people at the right time.
And the way I did both will probably surprise you.
So if you’ve been sitting on an idea, a skill, or a message you know can help others. But you’ve struggled to put it into words that move people to act (or to get those words in front of the people who are ready now…)
Then I think you’ll love this.
I’m thinking about turning this into a paid training where I walk through how I built and sold my first offer from scratch, with no audience, and no previous experience in a brand new niche.
If that sounds useful, reply “SHOW ME THE MONEY!” If enough people raise their hand, I’ll make it happen.
Your pal,
Kevin Hood
