What Obi-Wan said to get Luke to save the galaxy
Luke Skywalker spent his whole life staring at twin sunsets on Tatooine while dreaming of something bigger.
He wanted to join the Imperial Academy, he wanted to become a fighter pilot, and he wanted to get himself off that dusty rock.
But year after year… he was stuck working on his uncle’s moisture farm.
Doing the dirty work.
Basically surviving, waiting for that fateful moment that never seemed to come. Until one day his uncle’s new droid, R2-D2, runs off into the desert, and in order to save himself a good talking to from his uncle, he tries to track him down.
Which leads to a series of adventures where the Tusken Raiders knock him out and try to rob him.
But when he comes to, there’s a mysterious old man in a robe standing over him.
“Uncle Ben!”
That’s when Obi-Wan Kenobi takes Luke back to his little desert hut and starts talking about the Force, the Jedi Order, Luke’s father, and a mission that was bigger than either of them. It was everything Luke ever dreamed of.
But Luke said no.
"I can't get involved. I've got work to do."
Which honestly? That’s the most relatable thing in the whole saga. Because if you’ve ever made the leap to build your own business, you know exactly how Luke felt in that moment. You know what you’re capable of, you can see the opportunity clearly, and you want it.
But the idea of actually stepping into it, and really going for it is terrifying.
Most of the time, what keeps people stuck isn’t their lack of ability.
It’s that nobody said the right thing to them yet.
And Obi-Wan said something specific to Luke in that hut.
One thing, I’m not going to tell you what that thing is in the email because it’s what you’ll find inside Legendary Writing Secret #5, which I’ll tell you about in a minute.
But first I want to tell you what happened because of it.
He ends up in the sketchiest bar in the galaxy and nearly gets killed. Flies to Alderaan, only to find it's been blown to pieces. Rescues princess Leia and barely escapes with his life. Straps on an X-wing for a suicide mission against one of the most powerful weapons ever built.
Then trusts in his power, closes his eyes, fires his shot, and the Death Star explodes.
The galaxy is saved, and Luke is a hero.
All of it, and every single thing that came after, all traces back to one thing Obi-Wan said to Luke in a hut in the middle of a desert. And it's a technique you can start using in your writing today to reach your readers the very same way.
To get the right people to take the leap they've been afraid to take.
To make sure your message lands with the people who need to hear it most.
And you learn exactly what thing is and how to use it in your writing inside Legendary Writing Secret #5, which is live now inside the Nature of Marketing community.
