Writing breakthrough
A lot of people think they’re using AI well. Until they see what using it well looks like…
So I’m going to tell you a story. If you believe me, you’ll get more out of your writing this fall than you have all year. And if you don’t believe me, I’m going to make it worth your while to consider changing your mind.
Two weeks ago I got on a call with a client, Danielle Mitchell, who’s a business coach for manual therapy practitioners. She’s sharp, she’s been using AI for a while, and she would have told you she was doing fine with it.
Then I showed her how I set things up.
Everything I’ve ever written sitting in one place, and AI workflows that know how to reach in and find what I’m looking for, when I’m looking for it.
Here’s what she said:
===
“I thought I was using AI fairly decently. I’m like, oh, no, no… I am no better than everybody out there who’s just going, can you make this picture for me?”
===
I’ve heard some version of that from nearly everyone I’ve shown it to. And I don’t think that’s because those people are bad at AI. I think it’s because nobody ever showed them what it’s really capable of.
If you’re writing to grow something, a newsletter, a practice, an online business, then the whole game is how much good work you can get out the door with your name on it.
And if that’s true, how much longer are you willing to spend the first twenty minutes of every session explaining who you are to a chatbot that forgets everything you told it yesterday?
The typical solutions don’t fix that. A list of prompts. A custom tool or GPT. They all just hand you more work.
You end up being the person who has to keep everything organized, and feed the machine exactly what it needs, in the right order, instead of the kind of person who can just show up and write.
Imagine sitting down in the morning, asking for some highly tuned research and the note you wrote three years ago, and getting both. Connections begin to form in your mind, one neuron reaching for the next, your brain is in flow, ideas start bubbling, and you simply pour them onto the page by speaking them gently into your computer’s built in microphone.
Once you’re done, you’ve got your outline, or your draft, or whatever it was you sat down to make.
And it all sounds like you, because it is you.
Writing, but in a different way.
No need to explain, nothing to set up, you just brain dump your ideas and they appear on the page.
That’s what knowledge systems can do today. But most of them don’t. One place that holds everything you’ve ever written, taken notes on, read, or considered, where you and AI can both actually use it, together.
It’s faster, more insightful, and much more fun than starting from scratch every single time.
It can perform actual tasks for you rather than turning you into a copy/paste king or queen. And you only need to build it once. I’ve been tracking every post, every email, notes on books, courses, etc… in Notion since 2023, and it’s the only reason I post four times a day across three platforms, plus write a daily email, and still do client work without going insane.
But I built all that by hand at first. And eventually I added complicated automations.
But now you don’t have to do that. You can just ask AI to do it for you. As long as you know what to ask for. It’ll pull it all together and organize it for you.
That’s why I honestly get to spend more time napping and lounging in the sun than ever before.
So here’s why I think this moment is a really big opportunity for you. Most people have already decided AI is either magic or garbage. But both camps seem to have stopped paying attention. The models have gotten incredibly good this year, and to some degree it seems like they even remember you.
That is, until you start asking for specific details.
The problem is, most people haven’t given AI access to the information it needs to actually help. That part used to be boring and tedious, which is why almost nobody did it.
It isn’t boring anymore. Once you watch it happening, it’s actually kind of exciting.
Now you can get most of it done in a handful of sessions. Almost nobody has noticed this yet, and that’s why it’s such a big opportunity. Because if you build it now, you’ll be getting three to five times more work done than the person sitting next to you.
I’ve already seen the amazement on my clients’ faces after I deliver the work and tell them how long it took.
You can do the same for yourself, this fall.
And I told you I’d send you the link today, so here it is:

Tomorrow I’ll show you why a pile of notes isn’t a knowledge system yet. And what goes wrong when you try to hand AI everything at once.
