Guess which one made money
I’ve got two posts sitting in my content Hall of Fame.
One of them has 2,566 likes.
The other has 58.
One of them is responsible for $8,452 in revenue for my business. While the other one brought in nothing at all.
Which do you think is which?
If you asked me this question three years ago, I’d have told you it was obviously the one with 2,566 likes.
But that’s not how it went. The 58 like post turned into five sales calls over the next three months, including a client who paid $5,000 up front.
The one with 2,566 likes brought in a grand total of zero email subscribers. And while it got exactly 777 people to click through to my profile, only ten of them followed me.
But the post with 58 likes brought in 12 new followers, 12 new subscribers, and handful of actual paying clients.
Another interesting note.
Back in March I posted something that got 284 likes, and it brought in 72 subscribers.
The post that landed my first client from Threads got 35 likes. One with 10 likes turned into a client almost immediately.
Meanwhile my biggest posts, the 1,400 to 2,500 like ones with millions of views, brought in almost nobody.
Here’s the part that matters most. I’m not guessing at any of this.
That subscriber number isn’t “some people joined around the time I posted that.” It’s the actual count from the link under that specific post. Every post I write lives in Notion, the numbers sync back overnight, and I’ve got a skill that runs the analysis for me. I told it once how I think about judging my own work, and now it does it every week without being asked.
That’s the whole point of what I’ve been describing all week. It isn’t that AI writes for me. It’s that it can look at everything that’s going on while on my own that’d be impossible.
What these systems taught me is that resonating with a large crowd of people and reaching the right ones are two different things. And knowing that changes what you write about, for the better.
Anyway… rather than describing it, why don’t I just show you.
I recorded an over the shoulder walkthrough of one of my content writing sessions using the system I’ve developed. All of my best posts with their metrics, the analysis workflows, me writing and editing posts live, and how I can pull two or three weeks of content out in about an hour if I’m feeling pressed for time.
